Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need a jewellery valuation?

Some people have their jewellery valued just out of curiousity.

But the majority of the reasons are because insurance companies are placing a valuation report as a major requirement for insurance cover and place the policy holder as solely responsible to advise the value of their jewellery.

If you have unfortunately been placed in the position of having to make a claim due to accidental loss or theft/burglary you are aware that one of the main questions asked of you by your insurer is "do you have receipts, photos or documentation for your lost items."

Without documentation it may place your claim at risk.

As dependant upon your policy, without proof of ownership you may not be covered.

How long does a valuation take?

This is an often asked question.

Depending on the number of items and their complexity,

we expect to value approximately 4-6 items per hour.

Obviously simple items of gold, like chains and bracelets are easier to value than an item which contains multiple gemstones of varying size and quality.  Therefore more can be valued and compiled in an hour and becomes a more cost effective process for you.

But just like your jewellery, each consultation is individual and your valuer would be able to advise an approximate time schedule.

If you would prefer to work within a price structure, the visiting valuer can discuss with you which items are of a priority to you and compile a report on these items only.

What do I do if I lose my valuation?

Accidents happen from time to time and paperwork does get mislaid very easily.

As we hold your information on our database, you need only contact us. In the event of losing your report and with confirmation of your identity and security precautions taken, we would re-issue your report as a courtesy and free of charge.

As time goes by you may purchase or inherit additional items which you would like to add to your portfolio, this is not a problem and a comtinuation of your report can be sent to you in its entirety.
